Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one....With the Geocache of course!! DUH.

Follow the Ranger. He knows where to go! - GC1Y3KJ 7/9/11

Camping in Wompatuck State Park for the weekend with Mooney625, RubberDucky339 and TadpoleTheWolfman.

Early morning cache run with Mooney625.  We needed to get to this one so we could pick up the info for the "Save Triphammer Pond" Unknown cache from the travel bug "NYOff".

Orienteering Redux - GC2YFE4 - 7/8/11

I was camping in Womputuck State Park for the weekend with Mooney625, RubberDucky339 and TadpoleTheWolfman.

After having an....um..."Interesting" dinner Mooney625 and I decided we HAD to go for at least one that evening.  We walked down from our campsite (D7) to the area and a quick walk around to find the final.

The final was in an easy to identify location and was found very quickly, mind you it was 21:30 EDT at the time and we did it all by flashlight.

We discovered the Lock & Load "Travel Slug" in the cache and then the real one next to the cache.

The next day in the sunlight we realized how close to some other locations we were, that would probably explain why the State Police Officer pulled into our parking area shortly after we left and then circled the campground.

Another GF & M2 Mini-Multi - GC2737X - 7/3/11

Nice walk in these woods today with MuggleWife, Mooney625, Rubberducky339 and TadpoleTheWolfman.

Nice set of trails here so believe it or not Mooney625 did not do any of his signature Bushwhacking.

Unfortunately it was painfully obvious that nobody was obeying the "No motor vehicles" rule as the trails and open areas were torn up by dirt bikes.

All stages were nice easy finds, it certainly helps having more than 1 GPSr so that you can triangulate the location with signal bounce.

Sabbaday Falls - GC173XF - 6/21/11

I have not been up here in years.  Spectacular views and great falls.

And even though there are big signs indicating no swimming near the actual falls, there were 3 men swimming in the falls and making so much noise that it was hard to truly enjoy nature.

Pemi-Pothole - GC9E5 - 6/21/11

Ah, "The Basin".  Another place I used to come swimming as a child.  The power of water is extremely amazing, how it can carve stone away.

Sculptured Rocks Lodge - GC149Z4 - 6/20/11

I used to come here all the time to swim when I was a kid as I spent a lot of time growing up on the family farm on the other side of Bridgewater Mountain.

Found the cache quickly on the snowmobile trail and then went across the street to check out the water and attempt the other cache here ( Sculptured Rocks Natural Area ) which was a DNF.

I am always amazed at the power of water and its ability to carve it's way through the rocks.

bikerboy's 495 park and grab - GC2AH73 - 6/7/11

Yup, another lame light post cache.  But my dad SnowyOwls and I were waiting for my mom to arrive for dinner so might as well get it.

Keep your guard up! - GC25M1G - 5/28/11

Apparently the 4th time is a charm.  I had tried this one several times before but even with help we still could not come up with it.  Today was much easier, it was not in this spot on previous attempts.

Very exposed location for such a hard to find cache, surprised the police have not been called yet.

TUC-20 Coffee & Donuts Eastbound 84 - GC15K8F - 5/12/11

Last stop on our way home from Charlottesville, VA.  This was a quick find after a short walk across the grass.  Nothing real special or worth mention.

Gettysburg Cache-N-Dash #3 - GC1JP9M - 5/11/11

My family was travelling home to Massachusetts from Charlottesville, VA after visiting family.  We had planned to make a side trip to Gettysburg battlefield.

After a long day of touring and photographing the Battlefield we came back to our hotel right here ( Comfort Inn ) and I saw there was a cache right there in the parking lot.  I had to go for it even though it was another lame lamp post parking lot cache.  It could have been placed in the woods nearby but they went for the lamp post instead, oh well.

Welcome to West Virginia ! - GC2NGD9 - 5/11/11

Came over hear after finding the other cache at this rest area ( Kaiser Klan in WV ).

Very clever hide, I almost tripped over it and lost MY shoe.  Once I realized what I was looking at I signed the log.

Off to Gettysburg, PA!!

KaiserKlan in WV! - GCH0NP - 5/11/11

Left Charlottesville, VA this morning on the way to Gettysburg, PA to tour the battlefield before heading back to Massachusetts.

Nice big rest area with lots of picnic tables.  Took a walk down the aqueduct and into the wooded area.  Coordinates off a little but found relatively quickly.  Container is broken and in serious need of maintenance but seems Cache Owner (Kaiser Klan and CCrew)  are not interested in maintaining or even acknowledging it needs help.

Billy Goats Gruff (C'ville FTF Challenge) - GC1Y2PR - 5/10/11

Was staying at the Quality Inn nearby my father (SnowyOwls) and I decided to go for a walk and grab the cache.

Cool tunnel underneath the 250 bypass, but watch your step.  One slip and you will be in the water, luckily it is not very deep.

Once at GZ it was a quick find.  Left the "Unite for Diabetes" TB and the "West Branch Farmington River (MA) Red Jeep" TB

The ABCs of Geocaching: X is for X marks the Spot - GC2G5X7 - 5/7/11

Another stop on the way into Charlottesville, VA to visit family.  Had to stretch the legs and use facilities.  I am quite impressed with this rest area, it has a very nice picnic area set in the woods on a hill and it also has some walking trails.

This was supposed to be a night cache but with some perseverance and deep thought it can be found in the daylight.  And apparently the old saying "X marks the spot" really is true.  Picked up the "Traditional Micro" GeoCoin.

Y IN THE WOODS - GC163ZC - 5/7/11

We were driving down to Charlottesville, VA so my dad (SnowyOwls) could see his aunt and cousin again (Aunt is in failing health so it will be his last time to visit with her).

This was a nice stop and a good chance to stretch the legs and use the bathroom.

After grabbing the other cache here (Treasures and Travel Bugs Westbound) we wandered over to this one.  It took a little bit but found cache in good order.  I really like the well done hiding methods used in these.

Treasures and Travel Bugs Westbound - GC13RA1 - 5/7/11

We were driving down to Charlottesville, VA so my dad (SnowyOwls) could see his aunt and cousin again (Aunt is in failing health so it will be his last time to visit with her).

This was a nice stop and a good chance to stretch the legs and use the bathroom.

This is a very nice rest area compared to the ones we usually see, the muggle wife walked right up to this without any GPS.  Grabbed the "Good Luck Casino Tourist" TB and the "MacGregor O'Duck" TB.  Then off to get the other cache here.

"Beach Day!" - GC1X0G1 - 4/10/11

Insanely lame "Placed a cache simply because I can, hidden in the first guardrail I could find" location.

Exceptionally boring parking lot between several intersecting highways, there is already a much better cache based out of this lot and that one actually includes a walk through a little field and the cache is not a micro ( Lame Parking lot - GC14KY4 )
.

Waste but at least it is another one off the map.

Down on Dwinell - GC2EB69 - 4/10/11

Quick find today next to an old cemetery.  There is a brand new housing development just past the cemetery and then a dead end road, so it appears that until recently this cemetery was the only thing on the road.

Quick find but seemed very exposed to the house whose back porch overlooks the cache location.

Tin-Man #1 - GC29XW7 - 4/10/11

A typical parking lot micro.  Did not even need the GPS considering it is your standard Skirt-lifting light pole cache.

The only thing I did like about it was the fact that they re-painted the concrete post that the pole is attached to and in the process they painted the cache as well and didn't see it sitting there.

Touchstone Cache - GCV9AT - 4/10/11

Another one I had tried before but was not able to find at the time.  Today was a quick find at both stages although stage 1 needs new coordinate sheet as it is badly worn and stage 2 is in an undesirable location.

This is a cute little school tucked away from the world in the woods.  No school today though.

DALE #10 (UPTON) - GC1R4R3 - 4/10/11

#10 in the Dale Vietnam memorial series.

I had tried this one before but it was missing, never had a reason / chance to go back to the area for the find.  Had the day off and decided to go on a little caching loop.

Quick find this time around, had to misguide and avoid eyes from the church service getting out across the street.

Pierce Pond Pines - GC15BXG - 4/9/11

Last find of the day with Mooney625, RubberDucky339, TadpoleTheWolfman and SnowyOwls.

Mooney625 made this into a park and grab even though it clearly is not supposed to be, but thats Mooney625 for you.

Cache was out in the open but we hid it better than we found.

A walk in the park...ing lot - GC1F1C5 - 4/9/11

Another quick find on the way home today with Mooney625, RubberDucky339, TadpoleTheWolfman and SnowyOwls.

In grand Mooney625 fashion we used the car to bushwhack our way into the parking area only to find a perfectly good road on the way out.

Cool and mysterious table in the woods there.

Quick find and off to the next cache.

New Hampshire's Kissing Bridge - GC17767 - 4/9/11

After a nice breakfast with the family at Parkers Maple Barn in Mason, NH we all stopped by here on the way home.

Joining me were Mooney625, Rubberducky339, TadpoleTheWolfman and SnowyOwls.
After several failing attempts at finding the cache including Mooney625 climbing like a monkey, our father (SnowyOwls) walks right up to it and spots it immediately.

Cool set of bridges here.

NRWA Cache - Nashua River - GCWB7F - 4/9/11

Stopped here with SnowyOwls, Mooney625, Rubberducky339 and TadpoleTheWolfman on the way to Parkers Maple Barn for a nice breakfast with the family.

This was a very quick and easy find in a nice tucked away park.

Trading cards - GC251H4 - 3/17/11

A nice walk in the old Quarry.

I remember walking over here for some exploration for the local Boy Scout camp that I attended for many years.
They did a nice job with setting up the trails,
They put up a nice board with trail maps available and explanation of the area
They also did a nice job of marking various plants and points of interest along the way:

Upon arrival at GZ there is a nice little bridge crossing the brook, watch the kids though as there is no rail and it is about 5 feet down.  The water was really running after all the rain and melting we have had lately.

Gas Saver II - GCR2JD - 3/17/11

Another quick find while out doing some quick caches.
This is a really interesting tiny swath of a trail between a neighborhood and the highway.

Quick find once I got in there, someday when I have more time perhaps I will explore more of this wildlife sanctuary.

Boxborough Bug Hotel - GC136T0 - 3/17/11

Hmmmmm, what to say......

Very disappointed in this one.  While I do like the overall general area as there is a nice set of Baseball fields tucked away here:

The cache itself is upsetting, it was a quick find after going AROUND the cut out section of highway right-of-way restriction fence.
There are plenty of nice LEGAL hide locations within 30 feet of the actual cache hide but they decided to put it out along the highway instead.  Cleaned out the TBs and debating requesting the Massachusetts Reviewer take a look.

Boxborough Hills - GCPRFE - 3/17/11

What is that old saying? " The shortest distance is a straight line." Not for me!

Looped my way up here because I was not paying attention after coming from another cache down the bottom of the hill.

Quick find when I got there. Contents getting wet and container had water in it. Maybe time for a new one.

Cool old tower foundation nearby GZ

Gas Saver XII - GCRC5N - 3/17/11

Out for a day of caches, grabbed this one quickly on my way into the woods to find the one at the top of the hill.

Gas n' Joe - GC1T2CE - 3/17/11

Decided to take this nice day off I had and go for a day of quick caches.

I made this one much more effort than it had to be.  I parked in the lot of the nearby business and walked back through the abandoned property only to find a nice roadway that goes right next to the cache that I could not see on the Google map that I researched before heading out.

Quick find and nice to see an Ammo can so close to parking.

Where the brookies are (Charles River) - GC2AK4Y - 3/16/11

Not a whole lot to say about this one.
I was on my way to the geocaching dinner event in Milford GC2PKHQ and felt I should get a few caches on the way.

Nice easy parking area with the standard roadside hide.  Found in a matter of seconds.

The river was really flowing after all the rain and melting we had recently.

Korner Kache 18 (GC2P8NG) 2/26/11

Was down doing some work on the "Throne" of Mooney625, RubberDucky339 and eventually Tadpole the Wolfman.  We needed to run to Lowes nearby and Mooney625 decided we would make a detour.

We initially entered by the Water Dept pumping station, took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in a marsh that was not really frozen.  We decided to try the much shorter route through the local neighborhoods drainage pond.
When we got near the cache site we found a cool town marker, it marks the point were 4 towns all meet up:
  • Foxboro
  • North Attleboro
  • Mansfield
  • Plainville
Mooney625 went wandering down the traill to see what was down there.
And then he did a little CITO here, too bad people just toss out their trash everywhere.
And then like the Energizer bunny he is he is off running back to the truck.  I on the other hand can't run through 3 foot deep snow as quick as he can.

I Heart Geocache (GC1XWR1) 11/13/10

I decided to find one more before headed to work after an event in Foxboro. After wandering around for a little while (I had decided to attempt to follow what was left of the trail instead of just bushwhacking) I eventually found GZ. After looking all over the really cool looking tree (or what's left of it)

The old Norfolk Grange building out front is really cool and is scheduled for renovation.

Hopefully they will fix up a few of the benches.

Annawon Council Troop 33 Cache to Eagle #1 (GC2ERAR) 11/13/10

After a local shooting match at Independent Sportsman Club in Foxboro ( USPSA ) I decided to grab a quick cache in the area.
This was a nice little walk into the pond and a quick find.

Bridge is nice but I like the old stone one just below it better.

The trail in could use a little clean up as there is a big tree that has fallen down across it.

As an Eagle Scout myself, class of 1999 and current adult leader. I understand the effort that goes into some projects. Personally I think this one is lacking in effort, but Eagle rank is still a difficult achievement.
